School Principal who incited students to assault KTN journalists arrested and charged,released on Ksh 1 million bond

A Machakos court today charged a man by name John Musyoki Kyalo for an offense that was committed yesterday in St Stevens Girls secondary School within Kyumvi area in Mavoko sub-county, Machakos county where he is the school principal.

John Musyoki Kyalo who appeared before senior principal magistrate Evans Kyalo was charged with assault causing bodily harm, contrary to section 251 of the penal code and other 3 counts denied all counts.

After pleading not guilty of the offense that on 3rd June 2019 jointly with others not before the court assaulted Boniface Kirera Magana on the forehead by throwing a stone to him thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

The other charge was malicious damage of a camera and tripod stand, arson contrary to section 332 where willfully and unlawfully set fire to a motor vehicle Isuzu double cabin property of KTN and incitement to violence contrary to section 96 without lawful excuse being the school manager of Stevens Girls secondary school uttered “these media people are tarnishing the name of our school stone them”, an act which made the students set ablaze a motor vehicle property of KTN.

He was released on a bond of 1 million shillings with surety of the same.

The three assaulted were employees of Kenya Television Network (KTN).

He will appear again before the Machakos court for pre-trial directions on 18th of June 2019.
