Samburu Governor arrested over Ksh 84 Million fraud

Samburu governor Moses Kasaine Lenolkulal was arrested on Tuesaday early in the morning by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC) detectives over Ksh 84 million suspected fraud.

Lenolkulal was picked up from his Nairobi home and driven to EACC offices for processing and possible arraignment to face abuse of office charges and those of conspiracy to commit an economic crime.

This is after the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji ordered their prosecution in the ongoing probe into graft claims.

While giving update on the arrest, EACC deputy CEO Michael Mubea said Lenolkulal will be charged with offences including abuse of office, unlawful acquisition of property and conflict of interests.

Further, EACC has ordered other officers to be charged with the governor to report at the EACC offices at integrity centre with immediate effect.These include Kasaine’s deputy Julius Leseeto, county secretary Stephen Letinina, chief finance officer Daniel Lenolkirina and former chief officer in charge of environment and natural resources Josephine Lenasalia. Others are Chief officer in charge of agriculture Reuben Lemunyete, education’s Linus Lenolngenje, transport’s Paul Lolmingani, lands’ Bernard Lesurmat, gender’s Andrew Lanyasunya, sports’ David Loosenge, head of supply chain management Geoffrey Kitewan and businessman Hesbon Ndathi.
