High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga today visited and condoled with former President Daniel Moi following the death of his son, Jonathan Moi.
Mr Odinga who arrived at the former President’s family home in Nakuru County this afternoon, was received by Moi’s son Gideon Moi, Alex Tolgos, the Governor of Elgeyo Marakwet, Hon. William Kamket and Senator Abshiro Halake.
Raila Odinga was unable to attend Jonathan Moi’s funeral since he was attending the thematic forum on policy connectivity at the opening session of the second Belt and Road forum in Beijing, China.
Jonathan who was popularly known as JT succumbed to cancer at a Nakuru Hospital.
He was laid to rest on Saturday last week in his Kabimoi home in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.
Baringo senator Gideon Moi thanked Mr Odinga for his visit.
“I am deeply humbled today to have the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga and Hon. Oburu Odinga pay a visit to H.E Mzee Moi at Kabarak to personally deliver their messages of condolences following the demise and subsequent burial of Jonathan Toroitich. We are grateful as a family because individually and as a nation, you stood with us in prayers in such a sombre, difficult and trying moment.
Also present to receive the former Prime Minister was Alex Tolgos, the Governor of Elgeyo Marakwet, Hon. William Kamket and Senator Abshiro Halake,” said Gideon Moi.
The ODM party leader wished the retired president and his family strength following their loss.
” Visited retired President Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home to condole with him following the recent passing of his son Jonathan. We continue to wish strength to the former President and his family. May God grant them peace during this trying time,” Said Odinga.
