President Kenyatta presides over the closing ceremony of the 2019 Magical Kenya Open Golf Tournament

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday presided over the closing ceremony of the 2019 Magical Kenya Open Golf Tournament which was won by Italian Golfer Guido Migliozzi. Speaking during the closing ceremony, President Kenyatta pointed out that he has fulfilled his 2018 promise that the government will partner and move the Challenge Cup to the European Tour.

The President urged the private sector to continue partnering with the government to ensure that besides developing the sport of golf, Kenya is marketed in the process.

President Kenyatta also reiterated his Administration’s promise to sponsor all national teams this year including Harambee Stars, Rugby Sevens, the Women’s’ Netball team, the Athletics team, and others.

The President further stated that he is committed to make Kenya a sports destination, at the same time announcing that the government will start sponsoring the under 21s and the under 17s teams.

He said this is aimed at developing the potential of Kenyan youth from an early age.
