Machakos Junior Swimmers off to Kampala for gala competitions

Chief Officer Youth and Sports in Machakos County Henry Carlos Kioko has flagged off 80 swimmers from Machakos  Lukenya Academy who will be participating at Dolphins Junior Swimming Championship in Kampala, Uganda.
The event is an international meet annually. There are about 80 swimmers selected from Machakos county private schools.
 The championships will be held at Gems Cambridge School Kampala. It will involve other teams from Tanzania, Sudan, Zambia, Malawi, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi.
Kioko congratulated the young swimmers for their courage and determination at an early age. He confirmed Governor Mutua’s commitment to growing the sports economy in the region.
The sports chief disclosed that the county government was looking for investors to construct an international water sports arena at the Machakos city that would host international and Olympics swimming games.
the team from primary school assured good results and several medals back to Kenya as the school principal called upon the other schools to put their students into the co-curriculum activities for fitness
