Machakos county governor Alfred Mutua this morning hosted the Judiciary taskforce on Court-Annexed Mediation (CAM).

Mutua and the taskforce agreed to work together in among others; creating awareness to the people, providing/improving Judicial infrastructure, as well as training of local mediators to ensure Machakos people move from the tedious, costly and oftenly antagonistic litigation to alternative methods of dispute resolution.

To this regard, Mutua said he greed to their request of working together to set-up the Machakos Mediation Centre as the first such centre in the Counties.

“I am a strong believer that accelerated dispute resolution is essential for economic development. Similarly, for Judicial officers to do their work as per societal expectations, they must also work in a conducive environment with quality facilities for their personal use, as well as that of other Court users.
My government will work closely with the Judiciary in Machakos to ensure improved work environment for Judicial officers and Court users, to enhance access to justice.” Mutua said

He added that he found the meeting very insightful. He thanked the entire team for visiting him and wished them success in that very noble endeavour.
