Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has officially defected from Ford-Kenya to Jubilee Party.
This comes just a week after he was summoned by Ford-Kenya disciplinary committee to answer questions over misconduct.
The Ford-Kenya Party was not happy with Mr. Khalwale’s move of declaring support to Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Khalwale who was Ford-Kenya’s deputy party leader cited threats by Ford-Kenya leadership to kick him out of the party as what made him defect to Jubilee.
He added that he will not be ashamed to find space for the Luhya community in the next government.
Khalwale made the announcement at his home in Malinya, Kakamega County, where he hosted Deputy President Willliam Ruto.
After receiving Khalwale to Jubilee, DP Ruto thanked him for his move.
“All leaders have a responsibility to unite the people; focus on delivering efficient, effective service to their constituents; come together to ensure the needs of wananchi are fulfilled and move the country forward,” said Ruto.
Others who attended the event include Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, MPs Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Caleb Ositanyi (Soi), Justus Murunga (Matungu), Malulu Injendi (Malava), Aisha Jumwa (Malindi), Khatib Mwashetani (Msambweni), Mwambu Mabonga (Bumula) and former sports CS Rashid Echesa.
