Women in machakos level five health facility have benefitted from a sensitization program aimed at empowering them matters health.
As the world celebrates international women day,nurses in the level 5 referral facility have embarked on sensitizing women on safety sexual practices.
” we are planning to educate women how they can get empowered so that they know how to protect themselves against rape ,gender based violence unsafe sex and other practices that expose women to unsafe health ” said Muthuiru
Led by machakos county chair of national nurses association of Kenya Dr.Joshua Muthuiru the nurses through nursing now campaign are targeting expectant women and lactating mothers.” When women are empowered they become an impact of change in families, in households and the communities” lauded Muthuiru.
The county health and emergency services cec Ruth Mutie said there is need to have a gender balance in all aspects to ensure women have a say in the society.
She appreciated the machakos county government for upholding the gender rule in the cabinet.
“As a county we are so much concerned with women and matters of empowering women is a priority ” said miss mutua
She urged women to take up challenging tasks ,and shoot down any form of intimidation.
Mercy mutheu a beneficiary of the nursing now campaign applauded the initiative terming it of benefit to them,for they became knowledgeable matters stis prevention.
Cynthia Ndanu echoed her words saying its a key empowerment step to the women.
